About Mike Knox
I am an experienced businessman and entrepreneur with an interest in technology and technology commercialization.
After receiving my MBA from the University of Minnesota, I began my career by working for large corporations. Later, I founded and ran several successful startup companies.
Today, I use my experience to help others commercialize emerging technologies and to help small companies grow larger. I love learning new things, solving problems, and building things.

Technology Experience and Interest
With today's rapid technology development, one of my key strengths is my ability to get up to speed quickly with new technology.
Because of my background, I have significant experience with filtration and separation (air and liquid), knowledge management, and software design and development.
Most recently, I have been running companies (recently sold) that created java-based software for complex web applications. Therefore, I am familiar with most issues relating to web hosting, web security, web marketing, and related subjects.
My current interests include the exciting new developments in the physical sciences as we enter a new age of manipulating our environment at the atomic level (nanotechnology) and our biology at the cellular level (biotechnology). |

Business Experience
With three decades of diverse business experience behind me, I have first-hand experience in all areas that are essential to growing successful new organizations. I also have extensive international experience in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Here are some of my relevant business accomplishments and experiences:
Founded five successful companies and provided hands-on management through early growth stages
Managed and/or participated in the startup of joint ventures, subsidiaries, and new businesses in the US, Mexico, Hong Kong and Brazil
Handled the sale of businesses with a cumulative value of over $100 million
Recruited and managed engineers and programmers
Managed a successful IPO
Provided due diligence and technology assessment for Venture Capitalists and private investors
Served as Managing Director of a multinational subsidiary in South Africa during a turnaround
Developed close working relationships with individuals and businesses in Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia
Commercialized technology from an MSU/NASA research project
Raised equity funds for each of my businesses as well as several others from venture capitalists, investment bankers, and private individuals
Led a joint venture that developed a unique new filtration technology and an award-winning high-tech manufacturing plant
Served as the Chief Financial Officer of a group of European companies during a turnaround
